CHINESE LANTERN PLANT
      Chinese lantern plant, Physalis alkekengi, is a perennial herb of the nightshade family, Solanaceae. It is native to southeastern Europe and Asia. The fruit, an edible red berry, is enclosed in a husk formed from modified sepals of the flower. The husk, which is a translucent red color, resembles an oriental lantern.
