They produce cup-shaped yellowish, white, purple, violet, or red flowers that make attractive additions to perennial flower gardens. Among the most popular are the autumn-flowering Japanese anemone, A. hupehensis, and the spring-flowering, tuberous-rooted poppy anemone, A. coronaria. The poppy anemone is often grown for its red, white, and blue range of color.
